The restaurant opened in 1969 and has been family run since day one! it is situated at the entrance to the old walled city of Nicosia and is perfectly placed for those exploring the area. During the summer months customers can relax in the leafy shade. The menu is chalked on the blackboard and includes delicious meat and fish dishes cooked over charcoal as well as other popular local dishes including kalamari (squid) and several vegetarian options. Dishes can be chosen as a main meal or as part of the typical Mezé (Mézedhes) which is a selection of small plates of the different foods that are to share and enjoy at a leisurely pace. For those seeking a lighter snack a bowl of horiatiki salada (village style salad) is perfect or maybe one of the popular dips such as tzatziki (a delicious dip made with yoghurt, garlic and cucumber) or skordalia (garlic dip) served with olives as both are served with crusty village bread.
One of the most delicious meals you can order is a chicken or pork souvlaki (kebab) as it is one of the best loved dishes because it is simple but tastes so good! The meat is cooked on skewers over charcoal and served straight from the barbeque... sprinkle with juice from the lemon wedge provided and enjoy with the accompanying warm pitta bread and salad -delicious!
As the sun sets, the tempo changes as there is live music to be enjoyed in a relaxing ambience and everyone relaxes to the sound of some great melodies.
