Mezostrati

On entering Mezostrati Tavern through its distinctive archway, everyone is warmly welcomed by the staff and shown to their table. Mezostrati Tavern is situated in Nicosia centre and has a friendly warm ambience that is traditionally Cypriot and if you want to dine like a king, opt for the Méze.

The Méze at Mezostrati is definitely much more than a meal! A Méze is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace in good company. The Méze comprises of a variety of different dishes including fish, vegetables and meat that are all cooked in the traditional way and their flavours enhanced by fresh locally picked herbs. Everyone can enjoy a few spoonfuls of each dish in turn and don’t worry portions are very generous at Mezostrati and there is plenty for everyone to enjoy. Each dish is home made and beautifully presented. For those who do not want to order the Méze, it is possible to order a few dishes from the menu and this of course is ideal for lunchtime diners...and it has to be said that the charcoal grilled souvlakia is definitely one of the best in the city! There are a number of vegetarian options on the menu to enjoy too and the dishes change throughout the year to mirror the passing seasons and their different vegetables.
For those who still have a little room left, there are complimentary desserts.

The tempo changes at Mezostrati on a Friday and Saturday night and during Sunday lunchtime as the tavern’s three singers delight everyone by singing all the much-loved traditional folk songs. I it certainly a regular event that diners take to the dance floor  to enjoy some of the folk dances – don’t worry if you don’t know them, everyone is having fun and will guide you with the steps!
