Local Picks - Restaurants in Cyprus

Every restaurant listed here has been selected by our Cyprus Local Expert team. We’re not relying on algorithms or sponsored listings. These picks come from people who have spent years living in Cyprus, eating at these places repeatedly, and sharing honest feedback.

The focus is on real, approachable dining spots in areas like Nicosia, Limassol, and Paphos where locals gather. Sometimes it’s about where you’ll find the best meze on a warm spring evening in Larnaca, or a quiet taverna with fresh seafood right on the coast. We update these recommendations regularly because restaurants change, and new favorites pop up.

One quick tip: try dishes tied to the region you’re visiting. For example, in the Troodos Mountains, many small family tavernas serve great halloumi straight from local producers. It’s these little local details that make dining in Cyprus truly memorable.

Local dining tip

If you’re in Limassol during early autumn, take a stroll near the old port area around dinner time. Locals love grabbing a simple grilled fish at one of the small seaside tavernas before heading out for a walk along the promenade. It’s a great way to soak in the relaxed atmosphere and enjoy fresh, just-caught seafood without the tourist crowds. Don’t expect fancy presentations here, just honest, fresh food. And if you’re curious about wine, ask for a local variety like Commandaria to pair with your meal.
