Directions to Pafos Zoo
Pafos Zoo is truly magical. The award winning attraction is a pioneering project spread across over 100,000 sq.m. in an unspoiled natural environment. The zoo is now home to more than 200 different bird species and a whole host of animal residents, ranging from rabbits to giraffes. There are tortoises of all sizes, kangaroos, ponies, deer and crocodiles. There are many animals but the biggest 'star' at the zoo is the pure white baby albino wallaby that was born in June 2009. He is extra special as he was born to two brown coloured adults and is one of only four albino wallabies born in captivity in the world.
The zoo includes an amphitheatre that can accommodate 350 people aiming at hosting educational talks and programmes and showing wildlife documentaries.
The zoo's veterinary clinic is responsible for the treatment and nursing of the animals that are accommodated in the park. It is well equipped and includes an operating theatre and endoscopy unit for the performance of delicate operations in exotic species and birds.
Make a stop at the souvenir shop where you can take home that special memento of your day with T-shirts, mugs, magnets and artwork all available. The children's playground is a real treat for youngsters. Let them get close and personal with rabbits, guinea pigs, chicks and goats.
Keeping up with the Cyprus tradition, in the handicraft shop you can experience the live making of traditional rugs on the rare old weaving machine. Come in and have a look and learn the wonderful process of this dying tradition. The shop also has traditional baskets, which were used in the older times for transportation of local produce and are still used today.
Sit back and relax in the beautiful restaurant and enjoy the panoramic views of Pafos while enjoying traditional Cypriot food.
