Nestling just a few minutes walk from many of Larnaka's popular hotels is the Lysia Restaurant and holidaymakers seeking the real taste of Cyprus are delighted to see that many of the tables are occupied by local residents - always a good sign!

Lysia Restaurant is friendly and informal and offers great food - at great prices. Certainly the food tastes great as many of the dishes are cooked in traditional 'beehive' clay ovens and over charcoal and most of the vegetables and salad ingredients are grown just a few miles away so really taste good.

Starters include horiatiki salada - village style salad accompanied by a delicious array of dips and thick slices of crusty bread for dipping! There is grilled Halloumi - the local cheese- Lountza, the delicious cured pork and giant beans cooked with tomatoes.

The main course choices include all the classic favourites: Afelia, Pilaf with yogurt, Stifado, Mousaka and Tavas - the delicious oven baked dish. Also Kleftiko, the king of lamb dishes cooked for many hours in the clay oven and souvla - delicious pork/pork in wine, lamb or chicken cooked over charcoal. There are chops and sea food too. Pastichio - oven baked macaroni is another really tasty local dish with a layer of savoury mince running through and topped with a creamy white sauce. All dishes are beautifully seasoned with fresh herbs - and generously sized!

The perfect accompaniment to any of the dishes is a good glass of Cypriot wine -red, white or rose - and Lysia has a comprehensive range of the top local labels. Alternatively, there are long cool beers, soft drinks, aperitifs and cocktails and as the perfect finale to a lovely meal, a complimentary cup of Cyprus coffee is served with a smile no wonder so many people visit the Lysia time and time again.
