D.O.T

There was a wave of excitement when D.O.T opened opposite the Bastione and Melina Mecouri Hall in Old Nicosia within the city and today, new diners leave D.O.T delighted with the good food and tangible buzz as friends meet up for a casual drink or a relaxing keenly priced dinner that tickles their taste buds!

So much effort has gone into the creation of this popular restaurant as its owner, Polyvios Polyviou has used wonderful pieces of his grandmother's furniture and other antique treasures to create an elegant dining room indoors. Outside, there is an attractive group of tables under the stars and the trees decorated with baskets of vibrant flowers....

The menu is a creative mixture of Greek, Cypriot and European favourites and flavours. There are some great dishes to choose from including various salads, fresh fish and seafood including Salmon Tartare with capers and beetroot and grilled shrimps marinated beer and garlic. There are delicious meat dishes including tenderloin marinated in beer and garlic and chicken fillet marinated in citrus juice. there are delicious risottos and even a  tasty stir-fry with fresh squid and vegetables!

D.O.T's best selling main course is its burgers which are big, spicy and served in a freshly baked brioche with lettuce. Such temptations include beef, mushroom and herb burger with mozzarella and fresh basil pesto and beef burger with caramalised bacon and cheddar and don't worry if you need a vegetarian burger, the vegetarian one with soured cream and salad tastes terrific! And talking of vegetarian options, there are several to choose from including zucchini and yellow squash meatballs in a curried yoghurt sauce flavoured with fresh coriander - it just can't get better!

For those who enjoy a lovely pudding there are such temptations and kateyfi or banoffi! Each dish is carefully prepared using local ingredients including fresh herbs to enhance the flavours A very nice touch is that finger bowls with lemon scented water and additional napkins are discreetly placed on the table. Great attention to detail and good prices extends to the wine list with two of the best local wineries - Zambartas and Petritis - prominently featured.

Whilst D.O.T has a great reputation for good food at good prices in particular, it is known for its wonderful brunches which have to be the perfect lazy and sociable way to enjoy the day! There is a choice of classics including porridge and fresh fruit, blinis, waffles and a great selection of omelettes, scrambled eggs. BLT (bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches) and Eggs Benedict including one option with smoked salmon and caviar.  The drink menu is as impressive with fruit juices, smoothies and the full range of coffees and teas.

D.O.T is open mini brunch and lunch on weekdays (12.00 noon - 16.00 p.m) and on weekends for brunch (11:00 - 14:30). It is ideally placed for those enjoying a music concert or theatrical production close by.
