スタブロボニは、海抜750mの岩の頂上に位置しています。

この修道院は、最初のキリスト教皇帝コンスタンティヌス大帝の母であるヘレナ聖女によって4世紀に設立されました。彼女はエルサレムからの帰りに、島に立ち寄ってここに来ました。彼女が持っていた聖なる十字架の一部がここに残されました。この破片は、今も銀のケースで覆われた修道院にあります。その名前はギリシャ語で「十字架の山」を意味します。

元の建物はアラブとトルコの襲撃者によって破壊されましたが、今日見られる建物は主に17世紀に正教会の修道士によって再建されたものです。

修道院の敷地内への入場は、適切な服装をした男性のみです。女性は中に入ることはできませんが、すぐそばに美しい小さな教会があり、女性が訪れることができます。スタブロボニの修道士はアイコノグラフィのスキルで知られています。

営業時間:

9月 - 3月: 07:00 - 11:00、14:00 - 17:00

4月 - 8月: 08:00 - 12:00、15:00 - 18:00
