Kafeneio 11
Kafeneio 11 as mentioned above is situated in the old part of the capital just behind the Omerye Hamam and overlooking the Omerye mosque that will give visitors, especially at night, a truly mesmerising view. The cafe-bar serves coffee from noon through the rest of the day and then drinks later at night. Kafeneio has one peculiarity, it only serves drinks of Cypriot and Greek produce since its founders want the cafe-bar to stay authentic in its entirety by adhering to tradition all the way. The drinks vary from beer and wine to more special makes like zivania, ouzo, tsipouro, brandy etc. for the more daring types. Drinks are also accompanied by small cold dishes of accustomed Cyprus ‘tsilimma’ (drink accompaniments), varying from vegetables, cheese and cured meats.
We definitely suggest grabbing some friends and joining in the fun for Kafeneio’s live music nights either on a Friday or Saturday for Rebetiko and Greek Folk music nights, or for the more lighthearted for relaxed jazz nights every second Thursday of the month. The musicians are actually placed right in with the audience making it impossible for the customers not to be carried away by the rhythm of the music. This is exactly what makes Kafeneio a warm and cozy setting and always creates an inviting and comfortable atmosphere for anyone who visits. Make sure you check out the My Guide Cyprus ‘Events’ calendar often in order to be sure you will not miss any event.
Do not miss out on this unique experience at Kafeneio 11 taken somewhat from another era, a more carefree and personal one!
