Apart from being a wonderful holiday destination, for a large number of visitors Cyprus represents the ideal location for a very special and unforgettable wedding.

In accordance with the provisions of the relative Law the Municipality of Yermasoyia - as well as all the other Municipalities of Cyprus, have the right to officiate civil weddings.

Yermasoyia area is situated in the east of Limassol and is nowdays almost joined up to it.  Yermasoyia provides more than 387 hotel units and is one of the most important tourist destinations in Cyprus.    

The procedure for acquiring the marriage licence is simple, as long as the interested parties have all the relevant information and all necessary documents.

The civil marriage ceremony takes place in the Marriage Hall of the beautiful restored and renovated Cultural Center of Yermasoyia which is located just behind the St. Paraskevis Church.

The Cultural Center and the Marriage Hall is in Cyprus architecture and style and furnished with charming traditional Cypriot furniture and accessories. The walls are decorated with amazing samples of traditional Cypriot laces.

The stoned walls and doorways give an extra warmth and the beautiful gardens of the centre, the century old church of St. Paraskevis and the traditional narrow paths provide an ideal setting for capturing memorable and unforgetable of photographs.

In order to file an application for marriage the couple has to provide the following legal documents:

- Passports.

-*No impediment documents (Scottish)

or declarations of Marital Status (British) each one of them stating the following details:

• Name (as in passport),

• Passport number,

• Nationality,

• Marital status (single or divorce or widow/er),

• Address,

• That there is no impediment to marry each other.

Or Marital Status documents issue from the competent authorities of their country, translated and legalized according to their country's Law.

- Full birth certificates /adoption papers (if applicable).

- Absolute decree / Death certificate (if applicable).

- Change of name deed (if applicable).

- Copies of witness's passports (where name and passport number are stated). The witness should be over 18yrs old.

All the above documents must be recent, original, translated to English and officially verified with Apostille Seal if their country has signed the Convention of Hague Agreement or by their home country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Cyprus Embassy / Consulate Office in their country.

ALL Cypriot nationals should obtain their non marriage certificate from the Civil Registry & Migration Department of the Ministry of Interior in Nicosia. Cypriots who live abroad should apply through the Embassies / Consulates of the Republic of Cyprus.
 
ALL non Cypriot nationals living in Cyprus and are holders of either yellow or pink slip they should seek information from the Yermasoyia Registry Office long before their wedding application
 

There are two procedures to acquire the wedding license. The Special Procedure and the procedure of notice of Marriage.

Special Procedure

With the Special Procedure the couple can get married in less than 15 days or even on the same day of application.

Notice of Marriage

With the Notice of Marriage procedure the couple can get married after 15 days of their application but not later than 3 months.

The working days and hours are Monday to Friday from 7:30h to 14:30h and on Wednesday from 15:00h to 18:00h except July and August.

The ceremony is simple and takes about 10 - 15 minutes. After the celebration of the marriage the couple, the witnesses and the Marriage Officer sign the certificates of marriage and one original certificate of marriage is given to the newly wed couple.

For certified true copy of the certificate of marriage the couple must apply to the Civil Marriage Office of Yermasoyia Municipality.

The fee for acquiring the wedding license is:-

Special License: €281,90

Notice of Marriage: €128,10

Certified true copy of Marriage Certificate: €13,65

For not working hours at the Cultural Center: €100,00

Weddings at Venues other than the Cultural Center:

Short distance venues:

- Monday to Friday: €350,00 additional to the €281,90 wedding fee.

- Saturday and Sunday: €450,00 additional to the €281,90 wedding fee.

Long distance venues:

- Hotels of far distance i.e Columbia Beach Resort, Episcopiana, etc. €530,00 additional to the €281,90 wedding fee.
