'ペトラトゥロミオウ'はキプロスで最も美しい海岸の一つであり、ギリシャの愛と美の女神であるアフロディーテと関連があります。パフォス（パフォス）地区の南西海岸沿いにある巨大な岩の興味深い地質形成は、キプロスで最も印象的な自然遺産の一つを形成しています。

伝説によると、ここはアフロディーテが波から現れた場所です。ギリシャ語のペトラトゥロミオウ、『ギリシャの岩』という名前は、伝説のビザンティンの英雄であるディゲニスアクリタスに関連しており、彼は驚異的な力で侵略するサラセン人を阻止しました。彼が巨大な岩を海に投げ入れ、敵の船を破壊したと言われています。

特定の気象条件下では、波が立ち上がり、砕け、水の柱を形成して泡の柱に溶解すると言われています。想像力を働かせると、これは一瞬人間の姿のように見えます。この場所はアフロディーテ文化ルートにあります。
