アギオス・ネオフィトス修道院

教会と修道院

アギオス・ネオフィトス修道院は、パフォス町の北に位置し、北に9km離れています。12世紀末にキプロスの隠者である聖人ネオフィトスによって創設されました。彼は、人々と隔てて生活する理想の場所を探していました。

彼が最初に作った洞窟は『エングレイストラ』と呼ばれ、山から掘り出された囲い込みで、12世紀から15世紀にかけての最も優れたビザンティンのフレスコ画が含まれています。アギオス・ネオフィトスは『エングレイストラ』で暮らし、書物や聖歌を書き、追随者に説教しました。

修道院は聖母マリアに捧げられており、16世紀のポストビザンティン期の最も美しいアイコンを収め、非常に興味深い教会博物館を備えています。アギオス・ネオフィトスの遺骨は、木製の聖骨箱に収められ、頭蓋骨は銀の聖骨容器に保管されています。

4月-10月　毎日 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

11月-3月　毎日 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
