Cyprus Wine Museum
Cyprus
A chance to taste a few different local wines....
The Cyprus Wine Museum - started operation in November 2004, after 6 years of hard work in restoring, expanding and decorating the 150 year old stone building.
Situated in the heart of the wine producing countryside a short distance from Lemesos (Limassol) in the village of Erimi, the Cyprus Wine Museum will take you on a journey through the history of wine making in Cyprus.
Erimi village, with its 5500 years history of wine making, is at the crossroads of the wine routes of Cyprus, in close proximity to the prehistoric settlement of Sotira, where the oldest remains of grape seeds have been found and near to Kollosi Castle, a medieval Commanderie of The Hospitaller Knights that give the name to the Commandaria Wine first produced by them, gives to Cyprus Wine Museum its perfect location.
Photographic back drops and audiovisual presentations as well as ancient jars and vases, medieval drinking vessels, old documents and instruments encompass all aspects of wine production.
