Description

Omodos is a traditional wine village located 800 meters above sea level in the Troodos Mountains’ Krasochoria region, near Limassol. With origins dating back to the Frankish era, it is renowned for local wine, zivania pomace brandy, handmade lace, and arkatena rusks.

Sunken Church of Alassa and Kouris Dam — The largest reservoir in Cyprus, Kouris Dam, flooded the old Alassa village after its completion in 1988. During dry seasons, the spire of St. Nicholas’ Church emerges above the water, offering unique photographic opportunities and occasional dry-foot access inside the church.

Millomeris Waterfall is named from the Cypriot words “Millos” (wet) and “Meros” (place), fed by the Kryo Nero River. It offers a natural stop to experience local landscape between village visits.

Milia Medieval Bridge connects Platres and Pera Pedi villages over the “Cold River.” This historical bridge dates back to the Middle Ages and invites visitors to imagine its significance for knights, peasants, and merchants.

Pera Pedi Dam, built in 1954-55 north of the village, serves irrigation and water supply needs. It remains a peaceful spot for a quiet nature break.

Wine Tasting at Linos Winery — With a history of over 200 years, Linos Winery produces a wide range of wines from local and international grape varieties. Visitors taste local specialties including the internationally recognized blue wine, traditional liqueurs, and the signature zivania.
