Salvatore Accardo, one of today’s most outstanding violin virtuosos and most influential musicians of his generation joins the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra to interpret Tchaikovsky’s Violin concerto, which combines utmost lyricism with extreme virtuosity. The CyYSO opens the programme with Verdi’s tempestuous overture from his opera La forza del destino, whilst in the second part, it presents Shostakovich’s satirical and relentlessly energetic 9th Symphony. After audition, six talented young violinists of CyYSO’s Music School will attend a masterclass given by the great virtuoso. The masterclass will be open to the public. G.
