On the way, she crosses paths with a variety of people who, like herself, are at the edge of the world: a strange guy protected by his brothers; an old woman who is bored to death; a female employee hassled by her female boss. Three decisive encounters that will help Lulu rediscover an old acquaintance she's not seen for years: herself.

Black Souls Anime Nere
Francesco Munzi (ITALY 2014, 103΄)
Marco Leonardi, Peppino Mazzotta, Fabrizio Ferracane

In a place where blood ties and vendetta still hold sway, this tale of a Calabrian criminal family unfolds. The story starts in Holland and takes us to Milan, before finally arriving in Calabria among the peaks of Aspromonte where it all began, and where it will all end. Anime Nere is the story of three brothers – the sons of shepherds with ties to the ‘ndrangheta – and their divided souls. Luigi, the youngest, is an international drug dealer. Rocco, Milanese by adoption, is to all appearances a middle-class businessman, thanks to his cousin’s ill-gotten gains. Luciano, the eldest, harbours a pathological fantasy of pre-industrial Calabria and engages in lonely, melancholy dialogue with the dead. His twenty-year-old son Leo belongs to the lost generation, who have no identity. The only thing Leo has inherited from his ancestors is resentment and for him, the future is a train that has already left the station. After a trivial argument, he carries out an act of intimidation against a bar protected by a rival clan. Anywhere else, it would have been dismissed as nothing more than youthful foolishness. But not in Calabria, and especially not in Aspromonte. Instead, it is the spark that lights the fire. For Luciano, it is a return to the drama many years after the murder of his father. In a dimension suspended between the distant past and modern life, the characters are driven towards the archetypes of tragedy.

FRIDAY21/10,SUNDAY 30/10
Wondrous Boccaccio Maraviglioso Boccaccio

Paolo Taviani, Vittorio Taviani (ITALY 2015, 120΄)

Florence, Thirteenth Century. The "Black Death" is spreading. Ten kids (three boys and seven girls) decide to escape and to seek shelter in the countryside, away from the horrible consequences of the plague. In order to kill time, each kid tells a particular story, but no matter how different their stories may be, they all have one aspect in common: love. A love that will help the characters cope with the numerous uncertainties of a very arduous age.

SUNDAY23/10,FRIDAY 28/10
My Mother Mia Madre

Nanni Moretti (ITALY 2015, 106΄)
Margherita Buy, John Turturro, Giulia Lazzarini

These are hard days for Margherita, who is going through a very difficult period in her life. On a professional level first, the middle-aged film director, has started wondering whether the committed movies she has been making are really an actual reflection of the world she lives in ; on top of this, she is in conflict not only with her crew but also, and primarily, with Barry Huggins, a well-known American actor of Italian origin, who proves awfully bad and uncontrollable. On the personal level, things do not get any better - it could even be said they are worse. Margherita has just left her life partner and she has become unable to relate to her teenage daughter. As for her mother, she is now seriously ill and her doctor tries to prepare her brother and her for the worst. Which is unacceptable to the weakened woman who can find salvation only in denial of reality. Will she manage to face up to the facts and to come to terms with herself?

The Move of The Penguin (La mossa del Pinguino)
Claudio Amendola (ITALY 2013, 90΄)
Edoardo Leo, Ennio Fantastichini, Antonello Fassari, Ricky Memphis, Francesca Inaudi

Two precarious workers, a pensioner and an old bully discover the sport of curling by chance and convinced of their potential they plan to compete at the 2006 Winter Olympics held in Turin, in which Italy automatically has a qualified team being the host country.

Stay Away From Me Stai lontana di me

Alessio Maria Federici (ITALY 2013, 82΄)
Enrico Brignano, Ambra Angiolini, Anna Galiena, Giampaolo Morelli, Giorgio Colangeli

Jacopo is one of Italy’s most successful marriage counsellors, and a curse for the women who date him. No matter how careful they are, or what Jacopo tries, each woman he gets serious with ends up seriously in a gruesome and hilarious fashion. Swearing off women, he finds satisfaction in his work – that is, until Sara arrives in his life. Falling madly in love, Jacopo does his best to ignore the mounting signs that the curse is back and worse than ever – as Sara falls into a series of more dangerous, hilarious slapstick situations. Will their love last?
