The Pharos Arts Foundation, in collaboration with the Embassy of Iran in Cyprus, celebrate Nowruz with yet another fascinating Evening of Persian Classical Music, featuring the return visit of the outstanding Miras Ensemble on traditional instruments (oud, setar, tombak, daf, dayereh, kamancheh and santur).


PERSIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC

Persian classical music has evolved as a fluid expression of the social and cultural values proudly embodied by the Persian people, as demonstrated by the musical theory system, the role of music in Persian culture, and the creation process of musical performance. With the foundational establishment of Islam as the national religion of Persia in the seventh century, a significant fusion of Arabic and Persian music took place, including instruments, musical terminology, and theoretical principles. As Persian cultural values and beliefs have evolved over time, Persian classical music has simultaneously been transformed. Often associated with the deep, complex, and profound poetry of the great Persian poets, Persian music embodies the penultimate expression of the human soul. Gradually, the Persian classical music was raised to a mystical art, highly prized for its unification with a superior power of existence. The modernization and westernization of Iran have not only changed the structural components of Persian music in many ways, but have also exposed the art to the world. As people listen to this mysteriously beautiful Persian art, they attain some type of hal-state where the “world becomes transfigured, unveiling its marvellous images, and across an ineffable transparency… offers itself to the direct comprehension of every being capable of sensing.”

The Miras Ensemble, led by composer Arash Ghasemi, was founded in 2008 with the aim of performing the noble Persian classical music and presenting the masterpieces of the great men of literature. By exploring the music heritage of the country, the Ensemble aspires to protect this unique art, which has its roots in the ancient culture and customs of Iran. The Miras Ensemble has performed extensively in Iran and all over the world, in a number of festivals such as the Fajr International Music Festival and the Honyagaran Festival organised by the Iranian Art Center, in celebration of the millennium anniversary of Ferdowsi’s epic poem Shahnameh (held by the Center for Great Islamic Encyclopaedia and UNESCO) and the Nowruz Universal ceremony. The Ensemble has participated in various conferences and cultural programmes and has released a number of albums, more recently, “Ganj o Ranj”, based on poetry by the 13th century Persian poet and Sufi mystic Maulana Rumi, and two further albums based on poetry by Parvin Etesami and Hakim Ferdowsi.

Το Ίδρυμα Τεχνών Φάρος, σε συνεργασία με την Πρεσβεία του Ιράν στην Κύπρο, γιορτάζουν και φέτος το Νορούζ με ακόμα μια συναρπαστική βραδιά Περσικής Κλασικής Μουσικής, και τους μαγευτικούς ήχους παραδοσιακών οργάνων (ούτι, σιτάρ, τόμπακ, νταάφ, νταγερέ, καμάντσια, σαντούρι) από το εξαιρετικό Miras Ensemble.


ΠΕΡΣΙΚΗ ΚΛΑΣΙΚΗ ΜΟΥΣΙΚΗ:

Η περσική κλασική μουσική εξελίχθηκε σαν μια ευμετάβλητη έκφραση των κοινωνικών και πολιτιστικών αξιών που τόσο περήφανα ενσάρκωναν οι Πέρσες, όπως αποδεικνύεται και μέσα από το σύστημα της μουσικής θεωρίας, τον ρόλο που διαδραμάτισε η μουσική στην περσική κουλτούρα και τη δημιουργική διαδικασίας της μουσικής εκτέλεσης. Η θεμελιώδης εγκαθίδρυση του Ισλάμ ως η εθνική θρησκεία της Περσίας, τον 17ο αιώνα, οδήγησε σε μια σύμμειξη αραβικής και περσικής μουσικής, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των μουσικών οργάνων, της μουσικής ορολογίας και των θεωρητικών αρχών. Όπως οι περσικές πολιτιστικές αξίες και πεποιθήσεις είχαν εξελιχθεί με την πάροδο του χρόνου, έτσι και η περσική κλασική μουσική είχε ταυτόχρονα μεταμορφωθεί. Η περσική μουσική, η οποία συνδέεται συχνά με τη βαθιά, πολυσύνθετη και βαθυστόχαστη ποίηση των σπουδαίων ποιητών της Περσίας, ενσαρκώνει το προτελευταίο στάδιο της έκφρασης της ανθρώπινης ψυχής. Σταδιακά, η περσική κλασική μουσική εξυψώθηκε σε ένα είδος μυστικιστικής τέχνης. Ο εκσυγχρονισμός και η δυτικοποίηση του Ιράν δεν άλλαξαν απλά με διάφορους τρόπους τα δομικά στοιχεία της περσικής μουσικής, αλλά κατάφεραν να φέρουν τον υπόλοιπο κόσμο πιο κοντά στη συγκεκριμένη τέχνη. Καθώς οι άνθρωποι έρχονται σε επαφή με αυτή την έξοχη και μυστηριώδη περσική τέχνη, επιτυγχάνουν μια πνευματική ανάταση, κατά την οποία «ο κόσμος μεταμορφώνεται αποκαλύπτοντας θαυμάσιες εικόνες, και μέσα από αυτές, το κάθε ον που μπορεί να αισθανθεί λαμβάνει την άμεση κατανόηση μιας ανείπωτης διαφάνειας».

Το Miras Ensemble, υπό τη διεύθυνση του συνθέτη Arash Ghasemi, ιδρύθηκε το 2008 με στόχο την προώθηση της μεγαλοπρεπούς κλασικής μουσικής της Περσίας, και την ερμηνεία των αριστουργημάτων που γράφτηκαν από σπουδαίους Πέρσες ποιητές. Εξερευνώντας τη μουσική κληρονομιά της χώρας, το σύνολο Miras αποσκοπεί στην προστασία αυτής της μοναδικής τέχνης, η οποία έχει τις ρίζες της στον αρχαίο πολιτισμό και τις παραδόσεις της Περσίας. Το Miras Ensemble έχει δώσει αμέτρητες συναυλίες τόσο στο Ιράν όσο και στο εξωτερικό, με εμφανίσεις σε φεστιβάλ όπως Διεθνές Φεστιβάλ Μουσικής Fajr, Φεστιβάλ Honyagaran που διοργανώνεται από το Ιρανικό Κέντρο Τεχνών, και Διεθνής Τελετή Nowruz, και κατά τους εορτασμούς για τη χιλιετηρίδα από τη δημιουργία του έπους του Φιρντουσί, Shahnameh (Έπος των Βασιλέων), που διοργανώθηκε από το Κέντρο της Μεγάλης Ισλαμικής Εγκυκλοπαίδειας και την UNESCO. Το Miras Ensemble έχει παράλληλα συμμετάσχει σε πολλά σεμινάρια και πολιτιστικά προγράμματα παραδοσιακής μουσικής και έχει κυκλοφορήσει αρκετά άλμπουμ – πιο πρόσφατα, το “Ganj o Ranj”, το οποίο είναι βασισμένο σε ποίηση του σπουδαίου Πέρση ποιητή και Σούφι, Μεβλανά Ρουμί, καθώς και δύο άλμπουμ βασισμένα σε ποίηση των Χακίμ Φιρντουσί και Παρβίν Ετεσάμι.
